About Literary Jane

Literary Jane is a summer program for teen girls who will be entering 6th grade, 7th grade, and 8th grade in Fall 2019.

Our program is based on the Reader’s Workshop model (read this post about the RW model), an engaging and meaningful way to read books. Our program is NOT a tutoring program! Literary Jane is currently for girls who love to read and want the chance to study a few awesome books and discuss them with other book-loving girls.

We hope you will join us this summer!

About Callie

Hi! I’m Callie, the founder of Literary Jane. I started Literary Jane because of my deep passion for books. I know that books have the ability to inspire girls to see beyond themselves and get involved with their community and their world.

I’m a former middle school English teacher, having taught in both charter schools and public schools in Denver, CO and in Philadelphia, PA. I am a licensed teacher in Colorado and Texas. I also have completed a certificate in school leadership from the University of Denver.

I am the proud mom of a young daughter, Margaux, and my dream is that she be raised in a loving household surrounded by not just talk about being whatever she wants to be, but also books that prove it’s possible.

I live in Houston with my husband and daughter, and two old miniature schnauzers who are very convinced that they are also real children.
